The ‘Voice of the Martyrs’ is an organisation that is working to attract attention to those Christians who are being persecuted because of their faith, and sees it as its purpose to help, love and encourage persecuted Christians by providing Bibles, ministry resources, medical aid, practical assistance and advocacy.
It presents itself as an international evangelical mission, working with partner organisations to support the persecuted church in over 50 restricted countries.
The word ‘Evangelical’ is often used in the meaning ‘Biblical’, ‘having the Bible as basis’, and not, as we often do in our Free Reformed circles, as ‘Arminian’.
Nevertheless, if we read their statement of beliefs, we can notice some Arminian tendencies (see 7 below). They are not always explicit but you can notice them in the way statements are formulated or by what is left out (see 8 below). For instance:
7. We believe in “that blessed hope”, the personal imminent return of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and the rapture of the Church.
8. We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God.
From time to time we will be passing on some news from the website of the ‘Voice of the Martyrs’. Not all stories. Sometimes, articles can be written in a way that conveys an Arminian way of thinking.
It is important for you as reader to keep in mind that by passing on these tidbits of news about persecuted Christians, we are not endorsing all the viewpoints of Voice of the Martyrs. We only publish them because we think this part of the news itself is important for you to take note of.
